Internet Singing Sensations: Charice Pempengco vs. Susan Boyle

It was not long time ago when new Filipino international singing sensation Charice Pempengco surprised the whole world with her extraordinary singing talent. Her popularity increased through the YouTube. The story was simple. One of her avid fans posted her astounding performances that caught the eyes of big international personalities such as Oprah Winfrey, the host of Oprah. She was then acclaimed as the little girl with a big voice and thus made her way to be recognized as the newest internet sensation not only on the local scene, but also internationally. She defined the odds despite of her young age. But on the 11^th day of April 2009, the world was once again shocked yet again by another Internet singing sensation, this time, Susan Boyle taking the floor and catching the eyes of the world. Susan’s entry to the hit contest “Britains Got Talent” has incurred various criticisms and most of them were not so good. Some were even laughing at her at the start of the show. Well, considering the fact that she is already 47 years of age, many might have assumed that she cannot do it anymore. But Susan’s performance of the song “I Dreamed of a Dream” proved them all wrong. She even received a standing ovation from the judges and the audiences as well. And just like Charice, she was able to earn the title as the newest internet sensation and increased her popularity in YouTube. However, in contrast, she defined the odds despite of being 47 years of age.

With these events, many cannot help but to ask who the better is, or let’s say the best among the two internet singing sensations? Charice Pempengco who defined the odds despite of being young? Or will it be Susan Boyle who was able to astound the world despite being old?
